But God, I’m just a kid from Jersey

Come Holy Spirit…boy that can be a scary prayer. Not as scary as the Suscipe Prayer though. “Take Lord, receive all my liberty, my memory, my understanding, my entire will, all that I have and all that I possess. You gave it to me, to you I return it. Do with it as you will. Give me only your love and your grace for that is enough for me.” That takes big brass ones to pray and mean it, cause He will take you up on it. I prayed it once and meant it and He took me up on it. Not long after I was alone and looking for a new place to live. But what I got in return was well worth it.

Sometimes I have that fear that everyone does. If I give in to God’s will is He going to make me give up all my possessions and send me to Africa to be a missionary? Probably not. But I think “I’m no great evangelist” I’m just a kid from Jersey. And not even a big town, a small one, no sidewalks in front of our house. No movie theater. Not even a supermarket anymore. It’s 6miles wide, 7 if you count the lakes.

Of course He’s done more with similar guys. Even His own Son was born in a small town and raised in another one, from which even His friends said nothing good has come from. So I guess when He calls me, my best bet is “Here I am Lord, send me.”

Earn This…

Earn this, EARN IT! For most people it’s the first 20 minutes of Saving Private Ryan that have the most impact. Don’t get me wrong, they are still as impactful as the first time I saw them. But for me it’s the last scenes that hit me the hardest because in them I hear the…

If I’d only known…

If I’d only known this would be the last picture I’d ever take with my dad. If I’d only known this week in August two years ago would be the last time I would see him alive, what would I do differently? I honestly don’t know. I don’t know because years before I realized he…
